About Me

Hey there, I’m Greg, the person behind Camping Gear Galaxy. My story starts in the lush landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, where camping was more than a pastime for my family and me—it was a lifestyle.

Growing up in this scenic part of the country, I was outside as soon as I could walk, exploring the woods and learning the basics of camping from a young age. This exposure fostered a deep love for nature and a persistent curiosity that has stayed with me all my life.

Later on, my adventurous spirit drove me to join the United States Navy. If you want to call trudging through rugged terrains and surviving scarce conditions an adventure, then that’s exactly what it was. This experience taught me more about the art of survival and gave me practical skills that are crucial for anyone passionate about spending time outdoors.

After my stint in the Navy, I returned to the Pacific Northwest with a refined perspective on camping and adventure. Family camping trips resumed, allowing me to pass down what I knew to the younger generation. Each outing was about more than just setting up a tent; it was an opportunity to bond with my family and build lifelong memories.

Eventually, as my role in family camping shifted from participant to planner, my interest turned towards gear. Hence, Camping Gear Galaxy was born with the mission not just to provide the best camping gear and accessories, but to empower others with the knowledge needed to make the most of their time outdoors.

While intense hikes and rugged camping are less frequent these days, I’ve discovered new ways to enjoy the outdoors through activities like easy hiking and Rv camping. Whatever the pursuit, planning and adaptability remain key, and that’s something I often emphasize to fellow adventurers.

My philosophy of camping—embracing simplicity and the power of good preparation. Understanding why knowing the lay of the land and having a backup plan can make or break your outdoor experience is key. Look for future articles and enjoy the outdoors respectfully.
